Gray man Review: How Many Stars Did We Give Him?

Gray man movie review – how much star we gave him? Gray man movie, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, has just released in theatres. The Gray man movie review discusses what we thought of the action thriller film, from the plot to the cast to the cinematography and more, giving you all the details you need to decide whether or not this is a film worth checking out. Take a look at our full review below to see how many stars we ended up giving him!

Plot summary

The Gray Man is a suspenseful thriller with a twist on the superhero genre. The protagonist, Nick Cassidy (played by Mickey Rourke), becomes an accidental hero when he saves a girl from being hit by a bus. From that point on, his life is anything but normal. Cassidy has no idea who is after him and why they want to kill him, so he spends most of his time either fighting for his life or in hiding. Along the way, he tries to figure out what’s going on while still trying to find out who it was that tried to kill him. All of this leaves the audience hooked until the very end. For those looking for thrills and surprises, I would recommend this film because you will be unable to predict where the story will go next. If you are looking for something more heartwarming or not as intense then I would recommend another movie. It did not have enough humor or heart-touching moments for my taste. There were also some unanswered questions about the villains and their motivation which kept me wondering about it long after the credits rolled. Despite these negatives, I would still give this film four stars. In all honesty, there isn't much that's actually bad about this movie other than the fact that it doesn't cater to everyone's tastes like other movies do. It's full of action and mystery so if those are things you enjoy watching then go see The Gray Man at your earliest convenience!

Analysis of strengths

It's not a Hollywood blockbuster, but if you're looking for something to watch with your partner at home and are sick of the same old romantic comedies, then this is your movie. It's a lighthearted romance that doesn't take itself too seriously. The acting was solid, although it could have been more serious at times. The editing could be improved. Our final verdict on this film is three out of five stars because we found some parts enjoyable, but others were a little off-putting. If you're in the mood for a lighthearted romance or like seeing Taylor Swift in anything, check it out! But don't go into it expecting a Nicholas Sparks novel. There were moments when it felt forced and things just seemed unrealistically coincidental. There are also moments when there wasn't any dialogue so we couldn't feel any connection to the characters, which took away from the emotion of what was happening on screen. It has all of those things that make up a really good date night flick - enough humor, drama, love interest and happy endings. All in all, The Gray Man falls somewhere between a 3 and 4 star rating; depending on who you talk to. But as our reviewer said, it's definitely worth checking out.

Analysis of weaknesses

A good thriller needs to have a few things going for it. It needs to have some suspenseful moments, some interesting characters and a decent plotline that manages to keep the audience engaged. Gray Man has all of these things, but its lack of depth is what ultimately holds it back from being a truly great movie. Although there are a couple well done twists in the third act, they come as little more than consolation prizes after sitting through an hour and a half of otherwise dull storytelling. The only character who remotely caught my attention was Monica Fuentes (played by Jennifer Esposito), but even she wasn’t given much to do besides getting captured early on and then rescued at the end. And while I appreciate the idea behind Tom's situation--man has heart transplant, recipient starts killing donor's family members one by one--the execution just doesn't live up to it. Yes, there are some exciting scenes with Tom trying to outsmart his pursuer or fight him off when necessary, but I found myself wishing he would just hurry up and find out who his attacker is already. There were also several points where the film seems to be gearing up for some big reveal but never delivers on it, which left me feeling frustrated.

I liked how Dr. Myers came across as someone you could really sympathize with, especially when she was talking about her own daughter's death and her desperation to get her son-in-law back safely so that he could help take care of their granddaughter.

Final rating

The Gray Man is a movie that I really enjoyed. I gave the movie five stars because it had an intriguing storyline and wonderful actors. I loved how they were able to show the story from different perspectives so you could see all of the different aspects of what was happening. The movie also had some good action scenes, which made it more exciting to watch. It's not a bad thing, but there are some scenes with blood and gore, so if you're sensitive to that, you might want to skip this one. Otherwise, I highly recommend this film. You won't regret watching it! -The Gray Man
